In the domain of agriculture and its links with environment it is rather difficult to publish quite fast, short innovative contributions. I have then decided with the Editorial Board to introduce in 2002 a new section devoted to "Scientific Notes". This section will be reserved to innovative contributions over the domains covered by Agronomie: Agriculture & Environment. Each note will be limited to 2 printed pages of the journal corresponding around to 12000 signs, including spaces. Each note will comprise a title in English and, if possible, its translation in French, no abstract but the key words (5 maximum). One figure and one table are accepted under the condition that they can be included into the 2 printed pages. The number of references is limited to 5.

The review and the publication processes for these notes will be accelerated in order to be able to practically include them, when they are accepted, into the issue in print, including the thematic issues.

I hope that this evolution of Agronomie: Agriculture & Environment will contribute to improve its interest for the international scientific community.
